Getting Started

Before your first visit to Seattle Healing Arts Center, you may find it helpful to learn a few things about our process.

How our community of practitioners works

At Seattle Healing Arts, our practitioners value the collaborative environment where they can learn, mentor, and refer each other to provide the best integrative healing experience for our patients.

However, it's important to know that each practitioner has an independent practice, with their own patient paperwork and policies for payment, insurance, scheduling, etc. To learn more, contact a specific practitioner about their policies.

What to know about scheduling appointments

SHAC has a central appointment desk for scheduling visits with many of the practitioners, but not all of them. In some cases, you will need to contact a practitioner directly.

If you know the name of the practitioner you'll be working with, visit their bio page to find their contact information. Or, you can contact our main desk and we'll help you.

What to bring on your first visit

If you have copies of previous medical records or labwork results, please bring them with you to your first appointment (or as soon as you can). If you have been asked in advance to fill out patient forms about your medical history and health issues, please bring those as well.

For hands-on therapies such as massage, chiropractic, or energy healing, it is best to wear (or bring) loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.

What to expect on your first visit

The process will vary depending upon your practitioner and the purpose of your visit. Most practitioners will ask you to fill out paperwork (possibly prior to your first visit) so they can learn about your medical history and current health concerns.

With a Naturopathic Doctor, your initial visit will likely be 1 to 1-1/2 hours and may include: an in-depth discussion of your health issues and goals; a physical exam; diagnostic and treatment recommendations (such as lab tests, natural medicines and follow-up visits); and estimated costs for your treatment plan.

What to know about payment and insurance

At Seattle Healing Arts, each practitioner has their own paperwork, payment policies, and insurance coverage. You can learn more in the Practitioners section of our website, or contact a specific practitioner for more information.

Getting supplies for your treatment plan

Seattle Healing Arts Center has a full professional dispensary onsite for supplements, test kits, and other products related to your treatment. If your treatment plan includes other products ot prescriptions available elsewhere, your practitioner will provide that information for you.
